Help a cat get adopted this June!
Also known as “kitty season”, June is Adopt-A-Cat Month. Millions of kittens are born this time of year and often wind up in shelters all across the country. Are you a pet lover in need of a furry cuddle buddy? Reach out to your local shelter to find out about available adoptions. Even if you can’t adopt a cat, there are loads of things you can do to help one find a home.
Social It Up
Raise awareness by donating space on your Facebook page. Simply post “June is Adopt-A-Cat Month” as your status and include a link to your local shelter or pet adoption organization. You can also use Twitter, Instagram or other social media platform of your choice to encourage others to adopt a cat or donate their time.
Offer A Temporary Home
Maybe you’re one cat away from being that “Crazy Cat Person” (FYI, that’s a prestigious title in our book). Or perhaps your schedule doesn’t allow you to be a full-time pet parent. In lieu of adopting a cat, you can offer your home on a temporary basis to a cat in need until the shelter or pet organization is able to find them a forever home.
Share Your Skills
Do you happen to be a pretty decent writer or photographer? Shelters and adoption agencies are always in need of someone who can write up a snappy bio for pets who need homes. “Sparkles is a sweet cuddle buns who loves everyone she meets. She is addicted to salmon flavored treats, enjoys batting around toys and goes absolutely bonkers around catnip. Visit her today!” A sweet snap shot and a fun description can make a huge difference in finding these kitties a home.
When in doubt, give your local pet shelter a shout to find out what kind of help is needed.
