Good sleep is just as necessary for our pets as it is for us, so it’s important to make sure they have the right pet bed. While there are oodles of colors, designs, and materials, there are other significant features to take into consideration. Follow these tips to find the right bed for your fur baby.
Measure Your Pet
Prior to bed shopping, you’ll want to measure your pet from nose to tail to make sure the bed will be large enough to accommodate them. Does your pet tend to stretch out? Make sure the bed is large enough for them to do so. Do they like to curl up in a ball when sleeping? A smaller, bowl-like bed might be better suited for them. The density of the bed is important as well. The heavier your pet, the more cushion they will require.
If you have a senior pet or a pet with arthritis, beds that have really thick padding may provide more comfort and reduce aches and pains. Some pet beds are heated which might be nice if your pet gets cold easily. Does your pet prefer seclusion? A bed that offers some type of hood may make them feel more secure.
Pet beds can get filthy really fast. Be sure to check the washing instructions prior to purchase to ensure you don’t spend a bundle on a bed that can’t be easily cleaned. Most beds can either be thrown in the wash as a whole or come with a machine-washable cover. Make sure the rest of the bed can also be easily washed.
